Purusha: A Special Place

 New owners:

Kopal Maheshwari & Jen Betti

Hello Purusha Community,

We could not be more honored that Joy found us the right match to steward Purusha Studio into its next chapter. Purusha is a special place, and we will honor its all-encompassing value of servitude. We will continue to support, empower, and guide our community to realize a healthy and joyful love of life through healing and dedicated practice. Over the next two months and beyond, you will have plenty of opportunities to meet us as we plan end-of-year and new-year community events. If you have any questions, please contact us at: hello@purushayoga.org

A little bit about us…

Over the past decade, we have been friends and supportive of each other while managing our careers, raising our children, and engaging in community activism. Our goals have aligned to enter this next phase of our professional lives by leading Purusha Studio. This change marks a milestone where we can thoughtfully combine our professional experience with a love of community and wellness.

About Jen Betti

I grew up dancing and studying intensive ballet. The dance studio was a refuge to explore creativity, dedicated practice, and be part of a community with aligned values. For the past 20 years, I have practiced Pilates, a natural extension of all the ballet training, and once again, found a studio to be a touchstone in my life. Professionally, I have spent over 20 years in corporate communications, both in technology and nonprofit sectors, focused on supporting work cultures where diversity is embraced, and employees have a safe place to do their best work. In addition, I am a founding member of a San Francisco education non-profit aimed to empower communities for change in public education. Bringing my professional and community activism experience to Purusha Studio feels like a full-circle journey for me.

About Kopal Maheshwari

I was first introduced to yoga in a way I didn’t fully recognize. My grandmother would guide us to sit in a particular posture after meals to aid digestion—only later did I realize it was a yoga pose. As a young adult, I discovered the profound connection between breath and movement and have been practicing ever since. My journey has taken many twists and turns, from a corporate career and becoming a mother of three to discovering my passion for entrepreneurship. More recently, I have prioritized my spiritual and physical well-being with herbalism and meditation. Through every phase, yoga and breathwork have been a source of balance and grounding. I am truly honored and humbled to guide Purusha Studio into its next chapter, and I look forward to growing with you in wellness.

We are looking forward to engaging with you.

Cheers,

Jen & Kopal
